When you invite your teacher, Common App will send them a link to upload their letter of recommendation into Common App. Once your recommender submits your recommendation into the Common App system, it’s sent to all the colleges you’ve added to your “My Colleges”.

How do I submit Commonapp?

Once you’re ready to submit your application and pay your application fee, you simply need to go to the “Review and Submit – Common App” section for that specific college. Once you’ve confirmed that your application is ready to be submitted, you’ll be routed to our third party payment vendor to pay your fee.

Do you need teacher recommendations for common app?

We require two recommendations from two different academic teachers. If someone that is not a teacher can provide a different perspective on your work or personality, they are certainly welcome to send in a recommendation, as well; it will be considered supplemental, however, to the two academic recommendations.

Can I submit college application before recommendations?

You are allowed to submit your application before your counselor or teachers submit their school forms whether they choose to do so online or on paper. The Common Application system allows recommendations to be submitted even after the application has been submitted.

Can counselors see common app?

No, that’s a different option on the CommonApp. Inviting a Counselor doesn’t give them access to anything unless you select that option.

Can a relative write a letter of recommendation?

Ask a family member. Under no circumstances should you submit a letter of recommendation from a family member. Most universities will not look at the letter favorably, and it will not make your application stronger.

Where do you submit supplemental essays?

Go to a college’s specific page within the “My Colleges” tab. If the college lists a “Writing Supplement” section, there is additional writing. That said, some colleges embed their supplemental essay questions within the data entry of their supplements.
