How do I use Eakin cohesive seals?

How to Apply Eakin Cohesive Seals:

  1. Clean and dry the surrounding skin.
  2. Warm the Seal by holding it between your hands before removing the white paper.
  3. Remove the paper and work the Cohesive Seal into the desired shape by gently teasing and stretching it to suit your body’s individual needs.

  3. Using one hand to hold the skin tight can help prevent trauma to the skin.

Stoma powder is a non-medicated powder used to absorb moisture from slightly irritated or moist skin around the stoma. By absorbing moisture from skin around the stoma, the powder allows for better barrier adhesion.

How do you use an Eakin wound pouch?

Fill in scars, creases and crevices with eakin Cohesive® seals, eakin Cohesive® skin barriers and/or eakin Cohesive® paste. Apply firm but gentle pressure to the skin barrier for at least 30 seconds to ensure that the adhesive adheres to the skin surface.

Do you need to use stoma paste?

Ostomy products containing chemicals include adhesive remover, skin sealant, ostomy paste, and soap. These products should be used on an ‘as needed’ basis. Products used for dissolving adhesives or cleaning the skin should be thoroughly removed from the skin before pouching.”

Is barrier ring necessary?

Barrier rings are designed to protect the peristomal skin. The barrier ring will help fill in uneven skin surfaces to enhance the fit of the skin barrier and help prevent leakage of stoma output under the skin barrier.

Why does my stoma keep Pancaking?

Pancaking occurs if the internal layers of the stoma bag stick together causing a vacuum which prevents the contents from dropping to the bottom. The stool remains at the top of the stoma bag which can potentially block the filter. The bag can also be forced off the body.

How do you remove ostomy paste?

Stoma paste is best removed using lukewarm water and a cloth, but you can use adhesive removal wipes or adhesive removal spray too. You don’t need to get every bit of paste off your skin, so don’t scrub too hard trying to do this, since you may damage or irritate the skin surrounding your stoma.

Is it OK to get stoma powder on your stoma?

To treat irritated skin around the stoma you can use stoma powder under the ostomy appliance.
