Why is my tattoo shiny after peeling?

Why do new tattoos look shiny?
Once the newly healed tissue is ready, the scabs will begin to fall away, revealing a shiny, almost cellophane-like tissue beneath. This shiny skin will eventually return to normal, healthy looking skin after it has settled back into the natural process of exfoliation, which can take another week or so.
Is my tattoo healed if its shiny?
It will look wrinkly and shiny right after peeling but the lotion will speed up the healing process to blend the tattoo into normal skin. It may take up to a month to look finally healed.
How long should a tattoo be shiny?

What happens if I take Saniderm off early?
Your first piece of Saniderm applied by the artist must be worn for 24 hours, do not remove it early. You will have irritation, redness, bleeding, seeping, and ink collect under the bandage.
Does tattoo peel after Saniderm?
Some peeling is not uncommon during the tattoo healing process with Saniderm. However, it is not normal for a tattoo to be scabbing under the tattoo bandage. Once again, we always advise users to change the first Saniderm bandage within the first 24 hours, take it off, and clean the tattoo like normal.
